There's a new face on Jack Bolt Field's flight line: Assistant Airport Manager Arvin Weese! We asked him three questions.

Q: Tell us about yourself. What's your superhero origin story?

A: I’ve been fascinated with aviation since I was very young. I started flying when I was 19 at Daytona Beach International Airport, where I flew my first solo flight after 10 hours of flight time. I decided not to pursue a flying career, but stayed in aviation working both in private and commercial aviation. Most recently, I worked for Sheltair Aviation (one of the fixed base operators in Daytona) where I spent the last 12 years as General Manager. I am very proud of all the work we accomplished there, whether coordinating and executing large scale fly-in events like the Daytona 500, handling busy refueling with Embry-Riddle flight operations, or providing ground support for the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. When I’m not working, I love spending time with my wife and children here in our hometown of New Smyrna Beach. I look forward to assisting Adam and our team as we work to continually develop and improve our community airport.

Q: What are your impressions of New Smyrna Beach?

A: We love it so much we recently built a home here.

Q: What's the best way to get in touch with you?

A: Contact me at or (386) 410-2680.
