The Volusia County Public Library will award 10 scholarships to adults who did not complete high school and want to earn an accredited high school diploma and career certificate.

The scholarships were funded by the State of Florida through a partnership with Career Online High School, an online high school diploma and career certification program that accepts a limited number of adult learners who are looking to advance their careers, prepare for workforce entry and continue their education.

This is not a GED program but an accredited diploma program, where the candidate selects a career focus and can earn a certificate.

Core classes include English, math, social studies and science. In addition, students can choose from career certificates in child care and education, commercial driving, food and hospitality, general career preparation, home care professional, hospitality and leisure, office management, retail customer service, and security professional.

Applicants must be age 19 or older, a Volusia County resident, and a library card holder in good standing or willing to apply for a library card.

Accepted students can complete the program in as little as five months, but are given up to 18 months if needed.

To get started, visit https://volusialibrary.org/COHS and take an online readiness survey. For more information, contact the Volusia County Public Library at VCPLprograms@volusia.org.
