As Hurricane Dorian recedes further in our rear-view mirror, here are a few solid waste and storm debris notes for this week.
- Regular solid waste collection schedules resumed on Thursday, Sept. 5.
- Continue to place vegetative debris curbside without blocking streets, sidewalks, utility boxes or storm drains. Rear-load trucks and a claw truck ran extra routes on Saturday and will continue to do so this week Monday through Friday.
- It is a violation of Section 66-36 of the Code of Ordinances to "allow private tree contractors to place tree trimmings or trees removed by such persons at the street for city collection." Private contractors are required to properly dispose of such debris by removing it to the Volusia County transfer station or landfill.
- Store filled sandbags in a dry area such as a garage or shed for reuse in a future storm. Remember, hurricane season doesn't end until Nov. 30! Questions? Please contact the solid waste compliance officer at (386) 424-2207.
