The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will mill and resurface all travel lanes on two sections of State Road 44 (SR 44) in Volusia County. The first section begins just east of the Interstate 4 (I-4) ramps to east of Prevatt Avenue near DeLand. The second location is on SR 44 (Canal Street), beginning just west of Myrtle Avenue to Dimmick Street in New Smyrna Beach. The contractor may start work the week of July 15, but please note that the schedule is subject to change. Estimated completion is in Fall 2019.

This project will require single lane closures, and most work is expected to occur during daytime hours. Lane closures may occur at any time on SR 44 (Canal Street). On eastbound SR 44 near I-4, lane closures are not permitted between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Westbound SR 44 lane closures near I-4 may not occur between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to alert motorists of closures. Updates also can be found on FDOT's Central Florida website www.cflroads.com.

Please contact Community Outreach Coordinator Carolyn Fitzwilliam at carolyn.fitzwilliam@dot.state.fl.us or (386) 740-3566 for more information.
