[ARCHIVED] New Smyrna Beach Police Department receives full re-accreditation

PD Logo

New Smyrna Beach Police Chief Mike Coffin is proud to announce that the department has been fully re-accredited for another 3 years through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation. This accreditation effort was a joint undertaking by all of the agency’s employees and was led by Dave Burns, the agency’s accreditation manager. The agency was rigorously reviewed by an assessment team comprised of commission members from around the state. In the end, the agency complied with 239 standards and was elected for re-accreditation with no conditions yesterday.
The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation has long been recognized as a means of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Accreditation is the certification by an independent reviewing authority that an entity has met specific requirements and prescribed standards. The New Smyrna Beach Police Department’s drive to become an accredited agency began years ago culminating in our initial accreditation through the commission in 2015. Re-accreditation now will occur every three years.
