Senior Housing Development

The city is continuing its partnership with the New Smyrna Beach Housing Authority to enhance the availability of workforce and affordable housing in New Smyrna Beach with its new Greenlawn Manor Apartments project.

Starting in January 2022, as a result of a U.S. Housing and Urban Development 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit Award, the Housing Authority initiated Phase 1 development activities for a new affordable senior housing development project called Greenlawn Manor. This estimated $20 million dollar Phase 1 project will began with the demolition and disposition of the existing Greenlawn Terrace public housing units (600 Greenlawn Street). 

For Phase 1, the City of NSB CRA contributed $425,625 toward Phase 1 development activities as part of a local match. The project proposes 80 individual units. Amenities such as offices, community rooms, and elevators etc. have been integrated into the project's design.

Mayor Russ Owen was joined by Senator Tom WrightVolusia County Councilmember Danny Robins, and three of his fellow city commissioners, Zone 1 Commissioner Michael KolodyZone 3 Commissioner Jason McGuirk, and Zone 4 Commissioner Randy Hartman, at 600 Greenlawn St. on Feb. 4, 2022 to ceremonially break ground on Greenlawn Manor, an 80-unit affordable senior housing development slated to be completed in 2023.
