Clarence F. McCloud

Clarence McCloud is the Regional Campus Director of the Daytona State College New Smyrna Beach / Edgewater Campus. As the Campus Director, one of his many responsibilities is coordinating support services available to students in concert with the related administrators while maintaining an effective working relationship with area businesses, the Volusia County School District, service organizations, and other groups to ensure that the Daytona State College New Smyrna Beach / Edgewater Campus receives maximum exposure while benefiting the communities the campus serves. 

Clarence achieved his Master of Sciences Degree in Education Leadership and Human Services, from Nova Southeastern University, and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Bethune-Cookman University. his membership on the City of Edgewater Economic Development Board has benefited the College and the communities his campus serves. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his meritorious service on the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce, has fostered innovation to enhance immediate workforce development and training in our resilient community. His interests are leadership development, organizational development, and community service.

Mykal R. Tairu

Born and raised in Washington D.C. metro area, Mykal Tairu serves as the State Coordinator for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's Reentry Project. The project seeks to address the policy barriers for reentry for formerly incarcerated individuals. Through the project Mykal has lead several successful 'Ban the Box' campaigns across the state of Florida including in his home city of Daytona Beach. He was also a part of a national delegation to the White House to meet with individuals from the Obama Administration concerning Ban the Box. That meeting grew into an executive order by President Obama to Ban the Box on Federal job applications, giving individuals with past records a better shot at gaining adequate employment. Tairu is a 2014 graduate of Yale University where he earned a Masters of Religion at the Divinity School. At Yale, Mykal explored how faith inspires social justice. 

Mykal is the owner of Midtown Laundry Services, Eclectic Apparel (apparel printing company), and Pic Perfect Photobooth Rental. Prior to Yale, Mykal earned his bachelor's degree from Bethune-Cookman University where he studied philosophy. Mykal is married to Shanicka Tairu, a teacher at Westside Elementary and they are parents to three girls: Jordyn, Imani, and Myla.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties

  • Grew up in Minneapolis, MN where he was a Boys Club member of the Jerry Gamble Boys & Girls Club
  • Graduated from St. John's University in Minnesota in 1979
  • Began work at the Boys & Girls Club of Minneapolis in 1980
  • Graduated from Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs in 1987
  • Moved to Florida in 1988 - Director of the Pine Hills Boys & Girls Club in 1988-1991
  • Hired as Executive Director of the new Boys & Girls Club of Volusia County in 1993
  • Married to wife Judy, with a son Conor and lives in Deltona.

Linda Cuthbert

A retired New Smyrna Beach High School English teacher, she is currently Chairwoman of the Volusia County School Board. She has a BA in English Literature and a BS in Secondary Education from the University of Cincinnati, teaching 3 1/2 years in Ohio and 26 years in Volusia County. She is a former English Department Chair, PTA President at New Smyrna Beach Middle School, and junior varsity cheerleading coach. Presently she is a member of the Port Orange / South Daytona and Southeast Volusia Chambers of Commerce, on the Volusia Manufacturing Association Education Committee, Volusia County Schools Selection Committee and is Vice Chair of the Volusia County Value Adjustment Board.  

She is married to William Cuthbert, a 38 year veteran administrator of VCS. Her two daughters are both graduates of NSBHS, live locally, one a nurse and the other a teacher. She has 6 grandchildren with her husband, 2 at Seabreeze High, 3 at NSBHS, and 1 at NSBMS. 

Fully committed to the success of all children, their families and communities, Mrs. Cuthbert devotes much of her efforts serving the students of Volusia County Schools.
