Mosquito Lagoon Paddling Trail

Mosquito Lagoon Tour (Browns Bay)

Distance:  2.12 miles

Level: Novice

Summary: The Mosquito Lagoon Paddling Trail is a good marked trail for first-time paddlers. It’s a great way to view life in the mangrove wetland and estuarine habitats including birds, manatees and dolphins. The trail was laid out by a local Boy Scout as his Eagle Scout project a few years ago. He named it the Mosquito Lagoon Paddling Trail and included markers along the way.

Directions: Enter the trail from the Indian River Preserve Park at the end of Sandpiper Drive, which is off Saxon Boulevard on the beachside. Since the walk between the parking lot and launch area is longer than most, using a cart is suggested. Closed-toe water shoes also are strongly suggested since oyster beds are plentiful.

Follow the markers along the paddling trail.
